State Sen. Scott Wagner made a stop in Schuylkill County, Wednesday, promoting his announcement of running for state governor.
According to the Republican Herald, Wagner is the first Republican candidate for the gubernatorial office currently held by Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf, who is expected to run for a second term.
Wagner stopped at the Gilberton Power Co.’s John B. Rich Memorial Power Station near Frackville to make the announcement, one of three in different parts of the state, with the message, “It’s time to get rid of the Wolf.”
Wagner serves as Senate Urban Affairs and Housing Committee chairman, Labor and Industry Committee vice chairman, and serves on the Appropriations, Intergovernmental Operations, Transportation and Majority Policy committees.
The primary and General Election races will occur in 2018, giving Wagner a 16-month start for the May 15, 2018, GOP primary.
