An Ashland man charged with assaulting a Girardville police officer, in December, had the most serious charges against him dismissed Monday and prosecutors withdrew the remaining three lesser offenses.
According to the Republican Herald, 52 year old Brian E. Maurer was stopped for not using his turn signals on Dec. 3. During the stop, police Lt. Matthew Williams testified, Maurer appeared nervous and that the man struck him with his car door as he was trying to exit the vehicle.
During Maurer’s preliminary hearing, Magisterial District Judge Christina E. Hale determined that evidence presented did not prove the aggravated assault and resisting arrest charges.
