A great horned owl, found injured on a road in Hamburg earlier this month, was released back into the wild Monday, from the Red Creek Wildlife Center in Schuylkill Haven.
According to the Republican Herald, the owl was found Jan. 6 on Route 61 near the Cabela’s exit.
Pennsylvania State Police at Hamburg received numerous calls from motorists about the owl, which was reported to be at mile marker 30 near Interstate 78.
The police then contacted Red Creek. Monday’s release was the first for 2019 For Red Creek. The center took in more than 3,500 animals last year.
