A Hegins man was injured following an early morning one vehicle crash, Sunday, in Foster Township.
According to state police in Frackville, 39 year old Patric W. Boyer was observed driving erratically, westbound, at 1:16 a.m. approaching Interstate 81 on Route 901 when he made a sudden left turn toward the I-81 on-ramp. Boyer crossed the Route 901 bridge over I-81 at a high rate of speed, then still traveling at a high speed, Boyer’s vehicle slid across the on-ramp lane, crossed over a concrete traffic island, and continued skidding across the Route 901 eastbound-to-I-81 on-ramp lane before striking the guide rail adjacent to the on-ramp and coming to rest facing southeast on the on-ramp.
Police said Boyer had not been wearing a seatbelt and was extricated from his vehicle, before being flown to Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.
A nursing supervisor reported he was discharged Sunday afternoon.
Police charged Boyer with driving under the influence of alcohol and or a controlled substance.
