35 year old Amanda L. Vernitsky, of Schuylkill Haven, is headed to state prison after a Schuylkill County judge sentenced her, Wednesday, for what prosecutors said was her killing a 5-month-old boy in her care.
Schuylkill Haven borough police charged Vernitsky with killing Kaden Krause as she watched him in the early morning hours of June 2, 2017, at her then-residence in the borough.
She pleaded no contest on Dec. 5, 2018, to third-degree murder and endangering the welfare of children.
Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin ruled that Vernitsky must now serve seven to 14 years in a state correctional institution for her crimes.
