Tamaqua police announced Wednesday, that they have a suspect believed to be responsible for a Tuesday morning shooting in the borough.
According to the Republican Herald, the shooting occurred in the 200 block of West Rowe Street shortly after 2 a.m.
Authorities say 35 year old Joseph R. Becker suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was initially taken to St. Luke’s Hospital-Miner’s Campus, Coaldale, before being flown to St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill, for treatment.
There is no word on Becker’s condition. Police allege the shooting was drug-related and is still under investigation.
