The Pottsville Salvation Army is now accepting applications soon for its Holiday Assistance Program which provides food and toys for children up to age 12.
Additional sign-ups will be accepted and evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Applications will be accepted Oct. 11, 12 and 13 and Nov. 8, 9 and 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Salvation Army will also be providing a Thanksgiving meal and Christmas food assistance program this year. Thanksgiving baskets will be delivered in Pottsville and the immediate vicinity Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pottsville location. Christmas distribution is Dec. 19 and 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pottsville Four Square Gospel Church, on Mahantongo St. Countywide distribution is Dec. 19.
Proof of household income, photo identification showing proof of current address, working phone number and Social Security cards are required, along with an expense list for the last 30 days. For additional information, call the Salvation Army at 570-622-5252 or visit the office.
Volunteers are still needed, and donations of food are greatly appreciated.
