Fire crews from Schuylkill County were called into action to assist Northumberland County firefighters for an early morning fire in Mount Carmel, on Saturday.
Just before 6:00am, emergency personnel were called to 50 West Third Street, Mount Carmel for a working commercial fire. When crews arrived they found flame shooting from the roof of the Wells Fargo Bank.
The fire was upgraded to a 2nd alarm but the fire was reportedly mainly contained to the roof of the building.
Authorities said the fire started on the roof on the east side of the building, but a cause has not yet been determined.
No injuries were reported in the 5:39 a.m. blaze.
State police fire marshal Kirk Renn is expected to inspect the property this morning.
