A West Virginia truck driver was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI after a Dauphin County crash that claimed the life of a Gratz man last week.
According to the Republican Herald, the crash occurred Wednesday about 11:10 a.m., on Route 25 in the area of Klinger Road, in Upper Paxton Township.
According to state police Trooper Ronald Davis of the Lykens station, 43 year old Amy J. Duitch, of West Virginia, was driving a Freightliner tractor-trailer east on Route 25 when the trailer portion of her truck crossed over the center line and collided with a westbound vehicle, driven by 74 year old Elaine M. Morgan, of Gratz. The impact caused the SUV to spin into the path of a second tractor-trailer that was being driven east.
A passenger in the vehicle, 76 year old Junior Morgan, also of Gratz, suffered fatal injuries.
Elaine Morgan suffered suspected serious injuries and was taken to Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, for treatment.
Duitch was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and u-prescribed narcotics.
Charges are pending against Duitch pending the conclusion of the investigation.
