Pennsylvania's state higher education system has reached a tentative three-year deal with the union that represents about 700 student services workers at the 14 state universities which include Bloomsburg, East Stroudsburg, Kutztown and Shippensburg, among others.
Negotiators for the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education announced the deal with the State College and University Professional Association on Monday.
The union includes workers in admissions, financial aid, residence life, career services and the registrar's office.
A state system spokesman said the union has been working under a one-year contract extension that expired on June 30.
Contract details weren't immediately available, as Union members must still approve it.
Negotiations are scheduled to resume next week with the union that represents 5,500 faculty members and coaches. They've set an Oct. 19 strike date.
