At least 710 pounds of drugs were collected during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
According to the Republican Herald, the annual event took place Saturday and Schuylkill County Sheriff Joseph G. Groody said considering the rainy weather, it was a good turnout.
Forty-three boxes were collected and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency.
Hegins and Rush Township police departments were not able to drop off their boxes Saturday, so their collections were not included in the total.
Groody said the drugs collected help to keep them from those who will misuse them or out of the hands of other people.
