On Tuesday evening, the Mahanoy City Borough Council appointment Ken Zipovsky of Hazleton, as the new police chief.
He comes with experience working as Corporal for the Hazleton Police Department as well as previously working for the Weatherly Police.
Zipovsky’s appointment was motioned contingent upon medical, psychological and background screenings.
The borough council motioned to name Officer Charles Kovalewski as Corporal and a motion was passed to advertise for an additional full time police officer.
