Schuylkill County commissioners on Wednesday approved the spending package for its 2019 budget of more than $146 million without having to resort to a tax increase to fund it.
According to the Republican Herald, the real estate tax remains at 15.98 mills, meaning the owner of a property will pay to the county $1.598 per $100 of its assessed value. The per capita tax also remains at $5.
However, the revenues total $135,370,068, meaning the difference between them and the spending will be taken from county fund balances.
Under the terms of the budget, the largest chunk of the money, $63,928,879, is going to the general fund.
