A Girardville man surrendered after a short standoff Wednesday evening.
According to Skook News, Girardville police assistance was requested to serve a Protection from Abuse order on a John Weikel Sr. at 344 E Mahanoy Ave., Girardville.
The arriving Officer noticed Weikel was holding a handgun and after commanding him to drop the gun, Weikel ran inside the home firing 2 shots.
Police requested backup and were able to speak to Weikel via phone.
He surrendered a short time later and was taken into custody.
East Mahanoy Avenue was closed for about an hour during the incident.
