Phone Scam charges...

A Delaware man was jailed after being arrested by Minersville police for scamming a borough resident out of $11,800.

According to the Republican Herald, 31 year old Cordaro Rhodes contacted a borough woman, identified himself as attorney James Lee and said the woman’s grandson was jailed for DUI and needed $19,000 to be released on bail.

Lee collected $11,800 from the woman who then contacted police.

Rhodes was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, Shenandoah, and committed to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $120,000 straight cash bail.

Minersville Police Chief Michael Combs warned residents not to give money or personal information to anyone who may contact them without verifying that the caller is legitimate.
