Research Clinics...

Pennsylvania health authorities say they'll try again in 2019 to find qualified applicants for medical marijuana research clinics.

Eight applicants failed to meet the state's eligibility requirements in 2019, so the state says it will try again.

The clinical research program was created by Act 43 of 2018 legislation, which allows for eight clinical registrants to hold both a grower/processor permit and a dispensary permit.

Since the bill was signed into law in April 2016 more than 93,000 patients have registered to participate in Pennsylvania's medical marijuana program.

More than 62,000 of that number now have identification cards to purchase medical marijuana and 945 physicians have been approved to write prescriptions for medical marijuana.
