No evacuation needed...

An electrical malfunction involving a smoke alarm at a Pitman nursing home on Saturday morning resulted in a call out of seven local fire companies and two ambulance associations, but no evacuation was needed.

According to the Republican Herald, the call from the Schuylkill County Communications Center to respond to the Green Valley Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, on Taylorsville Mountain Road, came in at 1:42 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, there was a smell of smoke and a slight haze in the basement.

As a precaution, the 40 residents were moved to one side of the building while firefighters investigated the problem but residents were not required to leave the building.
