Just before 11:00 pm, Saturday, emergency personnel from Northumberland County were called to a 2nd alarm High Occupancy apartment building, working fire.
According to authorities, the fire began in the three-story apartment building on the corner of S 5th and West Chestnut St., in Shamokin, when a tenant in a third-floor apartment was heating grease on a stove to cook.
The fire is under investigation, but is being considered accidental.
No injuries were reported.
