A Tamaqua man was charged by police with attempted homicide and other offenses after he allegedly shot another man early Sunday morning.
23 year old Charles D. Heffelfinger Jr. was identified as the man who shot 36 year old Gary Reidel, after an altercation on Orwigsburg St.
Reidel told police the pair was arguing when Heffelfinger pulled out a 9 mm handgun from his waist area and fired it twice, with one round striking Reidel.
Heffelfinger was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge James K. Reiley, Pottsville, and committed to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $75,000 straight cash bail.
He will now have to appear for a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer in his Tamaqua courtroom at a later date.
