Jobs to be cut...

Scranton-based Times-Shamrock Communications, parent company of The Republican-Herald, announced Monday a plan to reduce the size of its staff.

According to the Republican Herald, Publisher George V. Lynett Jr. informed employees that the news organization has extended buyout offers to employees with at least 15 years of service.

The company plans to reduce the size of the staff through buyouts and layoffs, if needed. Donald Farley, chief operating officer for print and digital, said the move is necessary due to declines in advertising revenues and loss of print subscribers.

The Republican-Herald employs 74 people in downtown Pottsville.
