Governor Tom Wolf announced that medical marijuana will be available for patients at approved dispensaries beginning today.
To date, 10 dispensaries and 10 grower/processors have been approved to operate.
More than 17,000 patients have registered to participate in the medical marijuana program, with nearly 4,000 certified by a physician.
Physicians continue to register to participate in the program. To date, 708 have registered and of those, 376 have competed the training to become certified practitioners.
The Medical Marijuana Program became effective on May 17, 2016, and is expected to be fully implemented in 2018.
The program will offer medical marijuana to patients who are residents of Pennsylvania and under a practitioner’s care for the treatment of a serious medical condition as defined by the Medical Marijuana Law.
