3 Admitted into Drug Court Program...

Three people charged with drug related offences were admitted into the new drug treatment program by Judge James P. Goodman, Thursday, in Schuylkill County Court.

According to the Republican Herald, 32 year old Brett V. Elliott, of Schuylkill Haven, 30 year old Zachary M. Freeze, of Duncansville, and 37 year old Randy S. Reidler Jr., of Tower City, entered the five-phase program, which will enable them to have charges dismissed if they complete it successfully.

However, in order to enter the program, each defendant must plead guilty to the charges against them. As a result, if they do not complete the program successfully, they will be sentenced on the charges.

While in the program, which is designed to rehabilitate offenders both physically and mentally, the defendants must make regular court appearances, submit to random drug testing and home visits, meet with probation officers and comply with directives from the court and those officers.

They must complete all five phases in order to graduate from the program.
