A fire that displaced a mother and her two children has been ruled accidental.
Firefighters were called to 414 E. Elm St., in Tamaqua, for the report of a house fire and found a home filling with smoke and a fire in the basement. Firefighters had the fire extinguished in about 20 minutes but remained at the scene for about an hour checking to make sure the fire did not spread to an attached home at 412 E. Elm St.
Tamaqua Fire Chief James R. Connely said the fire started in the basement of the home and was “accidental, electrical in origin.”
