Car collides with school bus...

Emergency personnel were called to the intersection of West Market and 20th Street in Pottsville around 8:50am Wednesday, for a motor vehicle accident involving a School Bus.

According to Pottsville Police, a Chevy Cavalier being driven by 53 year old Debra Skripnek, of Tamaqua, had been traveling westbound in the 1900 block of W. Market Street when she began to proceed into the intersection while facing a red traffic signal, striking a Pottsville Area School District Bus that had begun to travel northbound through the intersection with a green traffic signal.

The bus was being driven by a 65 year old female employee of the PASD, carrying 22 Pottsville Area elementary students.

All the students were evaluated on scene and then transported to local medical facilities for secondary evaluation as a safety precaution. No serious injuries were reported.

Skripnek and the bus operator were transported to local medical facilities for evaluation and treatment of injuries.

Skripnek will be cited for the Traffic Control Signal violation.
