Pottsville police charged a Barnesville man who fled from officers as they responded to a report of an assault, Tuesday morning.
According to the Republican Herald, Police Chief Richard F. Wojciechowsky said that while responding to the reported assault, officers were told that a 21-year-old Pottsville woman and 21 year old Zachary Cash, of Barnesville, were attempting to leave the area in a white Chrysler 200.
When police attempted to stop the vehicle, Cash fled the scene and a high speed chase ensued.
Cash finally pulled over and stopped on Nichols Street, where he was taken into custody.
The chief said the investigation into the incident is continuing. Cash will now have to answer to the charges against him at a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge James K. Reiley, Pottsville.
