A West Penn township man is dead as the result of a violent crash along Route 443 in West Penn Township late Thursday night.
The crash occurred just before 11 p.m. as the unidentified male victim was traveling west, near Short Road, in the eastbound lane and encountered an eastbound New England Freight tractor trailer.
The operator of the rig saw him, but could not avoid the crash. Few details were available but Route 443 was shut down in the area and a coroner was called to the scene.
