Bridge work...

Detours will go into effect as two structurally deficient bridges in Schuylkill County will be closed for repairs starting Monday.

According to the Republican Herald, the state Route 1001 bridge over Mill Creek in East Norwegian Township will have its deck and some superstructure work completed.

The bridge is scheduled to be closed until June 11. Meanwhile, state Route 1006, over the West Branch of the Schuylkill River, will be closed for repairs until July 27.

Weather could delay the projects, which are being done by Rylind Construction Co. Inc, Lewisberry.

The estimated cost for work on the bridges is $899,695, and the funding will come from the Transportation Improvement Program.
