Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner Deb Detweiler has ruled that the manner of death of a Tamaqua woman has been ruled homicide.
According to the Republican Herald, Alexandria Sienkiewicz died of acute fentanyl toxicity due to delivery of a controlled substance April 2, 2016, in her parents’ home.
The 2011 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School was found with a needle in her arm the day of her death.
Detweiler said she could not discuss specifics or elaborate on how the conclusion of homicide was reached. Schuylkill County Coroner Dr. David J. Moylan III said the ruling was based on the investigation of state police.
Detweiler said Sienkiewicz’s case is not the first case of a drug death being ruled a homicide; however, another case has yet to be prosecuted.
Moylan said if the case is prosecuted, it will be the first drug delivery homicide case in the county.
