UGI Utilities is reminding customers to protect themselves and their property against individuals who may be posing as company employees in person, on the phone or through email.
According to the Republican Herald, UGI said its customers have received phone calls or emails, stating the customer owes money for their energy bills and that non-payment will result in having their service shut off immediately.
The caller then instructs the customer to purchase and send a money order or pre-paid cash card to avoid shut-off. UGI said those phone calls or emails are scams and are not generated by UGI or an agent of the company.
Anyone suspicious about a person’s ID or activities is urged by UGI to not allow that person into your home and to call the company immediately at 800-276-2722 so they can verify the visit.
