In an attempt to save money, the Pottsville Area school board voted this week to potentially outsource its bus transportation.
The board voted unanimously for the administration to accept request for proposals regarding busing students.
The RFPs are due today and will be opened at 10 a.m.
A pre-bid meeting was held March 6 at the academic center with five interested companies attending. Last year, the district also solicited for RFPs and also wanted to sell its fleet of vehicles. Three companies attended a pre-bid meeting last March, however, the district decided not to outsource busing last year.
Wayne McCullough, with the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials, is assisting with, and reviewing the RFPs with others. He will report back to the board in April.
