Some students in Schuylkill County are taking matters into their own hands when it comes to the opioid epidemic.
Some students at Nativity BVM are part of the Schuylkill County Youth Summit.
The goal of the summit is to engage, equip and educate youth in the community. Together, students, local leaders and recovery group members work on prevention strategies. These students take on the drug epidemic in their own way; through school programs and projects, drug take back days and by using social media.
Students are working on launching a social media campaign, where they can interact peer to peer. One of their projects will be supporting the county drug take back day on April 28.
