The fire that destroyed M&M Sandwich Shop, as well as several other adjoining homes, in Ashland, early Sunday morning is still under investigation.
Ashland Fire Chief Philip Groody said the cause of the blaze remains under investigation and that he is being assisted by the Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal’s division.
State police fire marshal Trooper John F. Burns of the Frackville station was at the scene Monday and plans on returning to continue sifting through the charred remains in hopes of finding what sparked the blaze. Burns said that due to the extent of the damage, the job of finding the cause of the fire is much more difficult and the investigation will continue.
