Girardville Fire...




Emergency personnel were called out around 2:45pm, Saturday afternoon, to Upper Railroad Street, in Girardville for a kitchen fire.

 Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire within minutes of arrival. Michael and Virginia Segars, who rent the property, were not home when the fire began. 

Autorities said the first floor of the home sustained heat, smoke and water damage, while the second floor sustained heat and smoke damage. 

Damage to the home was estimated to be between $15,000 to $20,000.

 The couple does have renters insurance.

 Two dogs died of smoke inhalation in the fire. 

No other injuries were reported as the investigation into what started the fire continues.
