Matthew R. Bachman is headed to state prison, for an incident at the Tamaqua elementary school.
Tamaqua police caught Bachman, in June of 2016, armed with a handgun and a pocket knife and carrying drugs, lurking around the local elementary school.
On Feb. 15, he pleaded guilty to a felony charge of carrying a firearm without a license, and to multiple misdemeanor charges. Bachman also pleaded guilty in a separate case to possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
According to court documents, police saw Bachman outside the school at 3:23 a.m. June 26, 2016. He tried to flee, and police used a Taser to stop him. When police searched Bachman, they found he was carrying a handgun without a permit, and a pocket knife. Bachman also had methamphetamine and hydrocodone, and paraphernalia.
Schuylkill County Judge Jacqueline L. Russell sentenced Bachman to one to two years in state prison.
