Will the GPC happen...

On Monday, Pottsville Lions Club Charities voted not to hold the Great Pottsville Cruise this August due to event co-chairman David W. Clews suffering health problems, leaving him unable to take on the responsibility.

However, Gerald L. Enders, a representative of Pottsville Lions Club Charities, said it’s possible the event can run this summer if another organization takes charge.

According to the Republican Herald, Enders was expected to ask the Pottsville Business Association to slip into the driver’s seat.

Every year, the Great Pottsville Cruise brings thousands of dollars into the community to support non-profit organizations and scholarships with a collection of classic cars, raffles and vendors.

What would have been the 24th annual Great Pottsville Cruise was scheduled for Aug. 12.

Enders said he would speak at the PBA’s March meeting, scheduled for 8 a.m. this morning.
