A Tamaqua couple, who were victims of a fire that was started by a neighbor’s careless smoking, have been victimized again.
William and Claudette Keich, of 118 Center St., Tamaqua, haven’t been able to live in their home since the March 24 fire. And while none of the buildings were insured, the Keichs did have renters insurance and were told, by an insurance company representative, to leave their belongings in the burned-out building while their claim was processed.
On March 31, at 9 a.m., the couple went to their former home and discovered that someone had made off with William’s tools that were in the basement of the home.
Authorities said the value of the stolen Craftsman and other tools is estimated at $1,063.
Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact Tamaqua police at 570-668-5000.
