An inmate at State Correctional Institution/Frackville has been charged with threatening to blow up the Berks County Courthouse.
Charges were filed Tuesday by Detective Frank Debellis of the Berks County District Attorney’s Office against 58 year old Joseph Howard Hinson, who admitted sending the letter that was received by the Clerk of Courts Office on April 5.
The letter stated that on April 17, “a truck with enough explosives to wipe out four city blocks would be parked near the courthouse and explode at 3:30 p.m.”
A preliminary hearing and bail hearing is scheduled for May 5th.
