PennDOT has announced a project to replace the Route 924 Bridge near Gilberton will begin this week.
According to Skook News, a contract has been awarded to HRI. Inc. of State College for the replacement of the existing 5 span, 4 lane structure of the current Route 924 bridge at a cost of $11,615,655.
The PA 924 “Maizeville” Bridge in Gilberton Borough traverses the Mahanoy Creek, Reading Blue Mountain and Northern Railroad, and State Route 4030.
For the majority of the time, one lane will remain open in each direction during construction, but motorists should plan for travel delays.
Work is scheduled begin today and project is anticipated to be complete in May 2021.
