County will conduct air testing...

Schuylkill County Commissioners have listened to concerns of those who work in the courthouse about mold and other airborne substances they believe are contributing to illnesses and on Wednesday hired Air Care & Restoration Co. Inc., of Bethlehem, to test air quality and clean air ducts at the courthouse in Pottsville.

Air Care President Keith Roe has tested several offices and found no elevated levels of mold and said no toxic black mold was found.

However Roe did find eight locations where the radon level was above the cap set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for homes and has recommended reducing the levels.

Commissioners hired Air Care for a fee of $104,375 and also as a consultant at $150 an hour, with a $2,500 cap.
