Chase leads to charges...

An Allentown man has been charged after leading police on a chase over the weekend, through Carbon and Schuylkill counties.

According to authorities, a Mahoning Township police officer was traveling east on Mahoning Drive, Friday, at 8:37 p.m. when a passing motorcyclist crossed into the lane of the police car, forcing the officer to swerve. The officer turned around and attempted to stop the motorcycle but he refused to stop.

The motorcyclist, later identified as 44 year old Jeremy Beil, fled through West Penn Township, Tamaqua, Coaldale, Lansford, and Summit Hill. He was arrested after going down a dead-end street in Summit Hill.

During the chase police learned Beil had a Carbon County bench warrant for his arrest. Police seized marijuana, and a pipe.

He was placed in the Carbon County Prison on the warrant and is awaiting arraignment on the charges.
