Pigs on Probabion...

Pottsville city council is giving a six-month trial period for Gracie Mae and Tanker, the pot-bellied pigs, living in the city.

According to the Republican Herald, city solicitor Thomas J. Pellish read from a prepared statement that said, “Council recognizes that pets of all types and sizes make a significant impact on our community.

Changes and additions of any nature require careful study to ensure that people and pets can coexist in relatively tight quarters.”

The city will allow current owners to keep their pets as previously discussed, however the current ordinance is still in effect, and no new animals will be allowed.

The city council met Monday and did not make a final determination if the pigs will be permitted to stay in their homes.

After the trial period, city council will discuss and vote on the proposed draft ordinance.
