Voter turnout was about average at the polls in Tuesday’s primary election.
According to the Republican Herald, the race for the Republican candidate for the 9th Congressional District ended with Daniel Meuser coming out on top over Schuylkill County commissioner candidates George F. Halcovage Jr. and Scott C. Uehlinger.
He will face Democratic candidate Denny Wolff, in the Nov. 6 General Election. This was the first congressional election in the newly created district that includes all of Schuylkill, Carbon and Columbia counties, and parts of Berks, Lebanon, Luzerne, Montour and Northumberland counties.
Governor Tom Wolf won the Democrat nomination and will run for re-election against Republican candidate Scott R. Wagner.
