Unofficial Primary results...




Schuylkill County polls for the May primary had contested races at the state, county, municipal and school board level. 

In the County races, Democrat Joseph G. Groody, Schuylkill County Sheriff, was unchallenged in his bid for another four-year term. He was unopposed on the Republican side. 

District Attorney Christine A. Holman will not face a challenge in the primary election; however, she will be challenged in November by Democrat Michael A. O’Pake. 

Magisterial District Judges Christina E. Hale, Frackville; James R. Ferrier, Orwigsburg; Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua; and James K. Reiley, Pottsville; are were unchallenged in their bids for another six-year term. 

In contested mayoral primaries, five boroughs have primary races to get on the November General Election ballot for mayor. They were Minersville, Tamaqua, Tremont, Coaldale and Port Carbon. 

In contested council primary races, the boroughs of Ashland, Frackville, Mahanoy City, Pine Grove, Port Carbon, Shenandoah and Tower City had contested council races. 

There were also a number of contested Township supervisor and school board races to find a coveted spot on the November ballot.

 Statewide Court races had multiple nominees on the ballot, but fell short compared to last fall’s Presidential election.
