The national “Click It or Ticket” seat-belt enforcement initiative began Monday and will continue thru June 5th with the state Department of Transportation, Buckle Up PA, state police and police from Tamaqua, Rush Township, West Penn Township, Butler Township, Kidder Township and Lehighton taking part in the campaign.
The enforcement effort will focus largely on nighttime enforcement, between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. using various enforcement techniques including roving patrols.
Motorists are reminded that Pennsylvania’s primary seat-belt law requires drivers and passengers under 18 years old to buckle up, and children under the age of 4 must be properly restrained in an approved child safety seat.
Citations will be issued to motorists who are caught unbuckled or transporting unrestrained children.
