The city of Pottsville plans to put up more than 100 banners over the next few days, which were made to honor local veterans.
According to the Republican Herald, the banners will be hung on utility poles in downtown Pottsville.
City officials will host a dedication ceremony related to “The City of Pottsville Hometown Heroes 2016 Banner Program” on Memorial Day, May 30 at 11am, at Garfield Square.
City Councilman Joseph J. Devine Jr. said a parade will take place, beginning at 10am from 12th street with the dedication following at 11am from Garfield Square.
The guest speaker will be retired Navy Rear Admiral Nancy J. Lescavage, of Port Carbon.
