Tax increase/staff cuts...

Nearly 60 people turned out for a special meeting Wednesday in which the Tri-Valley school board approved a proposed $13.7 million budget that increases real estate taxes by more than a mill and reduces programs and staff.

According to the Republican Herald, Superintendent Mark D. Snyder said there will be “staff realignment in the areas of music, art, library, health and physical education, social studies, elementary education and special education.” He said library services throughout the district are being evaluated to best provide access to all students.

The board voted, 5-4, for the $13,734,982 general fund spending plan for the 2018-19 school year.
