A fiery crash Wednesday afternoon claimed the lives of two people and sent another to a trauma center.
The crash occurred about 2:15 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 81, about two miles south of the Frackville exit as 45 year old Brian Barrett, of Greentown, was driving a tractor-trailer in the left lane as traffic was slowing due to a construction zone. Barrett’s truck struck the rear of a Nissan Rogue, causing both vehicles to become totally engulfed in flames.
The impact from the tractor-trailer pushed the Nissan into the back of a pickup being driven by 24 year old Bryan Ketcham, of Hop Bottom, then pushed the pickup truck into the rear of a tractor-trailer driven by 50 year old Roman Zhuk, of Feasterville.
Two men inside the Nissan Rogue, whose identities are being withheld until their family has been notified, died at the scene.
Ketcham suffered severe injuries and was flown to a trauma center.
Both Barrett and Zhuk were not injured.
