A father and son, from Lackawanna County, were identified as the victims from Wednesday’s fatal accident on Interstate 81.
State police said 52 year old Kevin C. Novitsky and his father 79 year old Clement Novitsky, both, of Scott Township, were killed when their crossover SUV was struck from behind by a tractor trailer driven by 45 year old Brian Barrett, of Greentown, and burst into flames.
Police said the impact from the tractor-trailer pushed the Novitsky vehicle into the back of a 2002 Dodge Ram driven by 24 year old Bryan Ketcham, of Hop Bottom.
The Ketcham truck was then pushed into the rear of a tractor-trailer driven by 50 year old Roman Zhuk, 50, of Feasterville.
Ketcham suffered severe injuries and was flown to a trauma center. Barrett and Zhuk were not injured.
