PPL Utilities rates to drop...

PPL Electric Utilities customers who forgo shopping for the best prices can expect to pay about 6 percent less for power generation this summer and there’s even better news for small-business customers, who should see the power generation portion of bills slashed about 15 percent as the cost to generate electricity continues to fall.

According to the Republican Herald, the price to compare will be about 7.4 cents per kilowatt-hour for residential customers, down from its current rate of 7.9 cents per kwh. The lower rate means a household using on average 30 kilowatts per day can expect to spend about $4.25 less each month.

For small business customers, the price to compare will be 6.6 cents per kilowatt hour from its current rate of 7.7 cents.

PPL adjusts its prices twice yearly, on Dec. 1 and June 1.
