People in Luzerne County gathered to educate people on suicide prevention.
Catholic Social Services and the Hazleton Area High school SADD club joined together to host the 7th annual walk to Help Stop the Silence.
Volunteers stress that people need to make use of resources like the national suicide prevention lifeline.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention says suicide is on the rise, claiming the lives of about 80,000 Americans each year. Help Stop the Silence says that in Luzerne County, that number is one a week.
All proceeds from the walk benefitted the Help Stop the Silence Organization and other local support programs providing benefitting the community.
